THE Northern Invaders

Centuries ago, Northern invaders raided and plundered a family’s castle. Among the looted items was a ‘large historic artifact’ (LHA). The attackers loaded their spoils into a longship and rowed away. Family members watched from shore as the attackers tried to transfer their stolen bounty in heavy seas, which caused the LHA to fall overboard and sink.

A few years ago, the estate’s agent approached and briefed Mr Egan on this event. The former also said the family’s descendants have known the LHA’s rough location for countless generations. The LHA is now buried in sediment and can be pinpointed via a geophysical survey. It will then be recovered by commercial divers employing specialised equipment. After in-country stabilisation and conservation, the LHA can be donated via public ceremony to the family’s estate or to the national museum.

Adventurer-funders will be invited (or chosen by lottery) to serve in on-screen roles as castle attackers and settlement defenders.

Great topic for a documentary film, which will feature the still-standing castle and digitally recreate the adjoining settlement. Also, an excellent subject for two episodes in the AR series.
