THE SECRET TREFFPUNKT

An urban residence served for a few years as the secret treffpunkt, or meeting place, for a Resistance movement’s leaders.

Rumors persist of a tunnel system beneath the building, which is now a formal historic site. Oddly, a geophysical survey has never been done. Years after the conflict period, surviving fighters mentioned using tunnels to escape periodic raids by the secret police and military. Today that building’s grounds and basement can be 3D micro-mapped using ground penetrating radar and other technologies.

Any tunnels can then be accessed and investigated. Considerable commercial opportunity exists for integrating premium, fee-paying, and participatory heritage tourism.
